Blogging

In today’s edition, we’re blogging about blogging. We build custom websites (that’s what TREM Group mainly does), and every website comes with an easy back-end system for you to write blog posts and publish them across all your media channels. But having the tools is only half the battle. This post can help you avoid common mistakes real estate agents make with their blogs.

5. Not being interesting or useful

A blog is like any other source of information in that you’d better be providing some useful information or no one will read it. New listings, tips for buying and community news are all great ideas.

4. Selling

The best real estate blogs don’t sell the agent, they build trust. This is your chance to prove you know what you’re talking about, that you’re personable and that you care about what you do.

3. Not placing your contact info prominently

Even though this isn’t a place for sales, you should still include your contact information prominently. Users may come to your blog page from a search engine, and therefore your blog page should have plenty of information about you.

2. Not using SEO

Google Keyword Planner is your friend. Make sure you use the SEO helper in your CMS. It’ll tell you how strong your SEO is and help you improve each post.

1. Ignoring the blog

So many real estate agents forget about their blogs. It’s easy to do: You’re busy, and this seems like a low priority. In some ways it is, true. But you damage your SEO by not updating your blog, and we can all agree that a high search ranking is important. If you don’t have time, then outsource it. But definitely make sure it gets done.
